Book club night got interesting, Sarah. Picture a group of smart, hilarious women around a kitchen island, laughing, dissecting each of the charters in Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall, and passing the best homemade cookies and wine/sparkling water.
We covered a lot of ground: motherhood, boobs, breastfeeding, kids’ soccer schedules, and the chaos of planning the holidays. We were comfortable being real with each other.
But at some point, I realized something:
No one actually knows what anyone else in the group does for work.
We know who’s juggling work travel, who has recently recovered from the flu, who’s renovating a kitchen.
But when it comes to saying what we do, what lights us up, what we’re building, where we’re growing... we go quiet.
And I get it. Talking about work can feel weird.
We don’t want to sound braggy or boring or “too much.”
So we skip it.
But when we do that, we rob each other of connection.
What if we could share what we do the same way we talk about our families or our favorite shows...with honesty, warmth, and pride?
Here’s your invitation this week:
Practice telling someone what you do.
Not your job title.
Not your LinkedIn headline.
But what you really do.
How you help people. What you love about it. Why it matters to you.
You deserve to be seen in every part of your life. INCLUDING the part you’ve worked so hard to build.
If you want help finding the words that feel like you, not corporate, not salesy, just honest and clear... Schedule a Free Consultation and let’s make sure you can talk about what you do with confidence and heart.
Feel like you can already nail this one? Email me, I'd love to learn about the current version of YOU.
With love,
Sarah
